Glad to hear it Ed. Now that it's getting hotter I expect to hear from everyone I bid ceiling fans for. Nothing I enjoy more than bending conduit in a 120 degree attic.

Thanks Dennis.....

If things go the same as last year, I sweated it out until mid-June and then started to get my normal closing ratio back up again.

So, I have to make an early season adjustment in how I deploy my presentation to the prospects, at least for a short seasonal period, just to ensure that I don't fall into the closing less than 10% trap again.

I know that I CAN NOT compete with the prices when they are always 40% and more less than mine, but when there is only a 20% to 30% difference, I can overcome that with superior specifications and a proven track record more than 1/2 the time.

Dave,

You may have an opportunity to mention to the home owners that they need a new roof, if you happen to notice a decrepit looking condition while you are meeting someone.

I would hope that you could find a few opportunities to pass my company name onto some potential customers as a referral source, to help out in these slower times we have experienced.

A comment made by a different tradesman goes a lot farther psychologically in any home owners mind, when an electrician informs them that their roof needs to be looked at and is Shot, much more so than if a Roofer makes that statement, since there is no vested interest in your observation. What do you think? Could you see any roofs that need a good roofing contractor?

Obviously, I will return the favor and keep an eye out for any indication that any of my clients need a good electrician.

Lets have lunch or dinner sometime soon. We can exchange a few business cards again.

You guy are on the right track. I've made some great connections with people I've met online.

Right now, SteveC is running a bath remodel for me, Sal is my savior with the decks, SteveH from JLC is my drywall sub and I just gave out Tom Struble's number to a client that needs a reside.

You know, And I know, that we should be doing stuff like this all of the time.

What the Heck comes over our own mentality sometimes to forget about doing the simple things, like asking for a business card and cross-referring each other all over the place?

I think I was so worried about trying to keep up, that I forget the things that I tell other people to do.

I will make a concerted effort to be more reciprocal from now on.

What brought this on tonight, to spark the request, was a potential client from last August called me back yesterday and I needed to seek out the siding sub that I was using, but had not stayed in touch with over the winter and spring.

Well, I sent him the information to go and measure and made sure I left him an identical message as I just did for Dave. Actually, Dave's was the copy/pasted version.

That makes 3 contractors that I attempted to contact and establish a referral network with. The other is a fellow named Jeff, from Huntley Heating and Air Conditioning, whom seems to get continually referred on "The Huntley Neighborhood Forum", so I reached out to his website to introduce myself and see if their was any mutual interest in referral networking.

At least I am trying.

Thanks Dave.

Maybe we can meet up for lunch some day at The Around The Clock Restaurant on Rt. 14 or somewhere else you suggest.

I live right off of Huntington Drive, exactly 1 mile West of Rt. 31 in Algonquin and you know where my shop/office is located, so whatever area works for getting together the easiest and we can see if there ever winds up being any chances for cross-referrals.

"None of you live in close proximity to Kentucky."

It took me a while, but I'm pretty sure nonya = none'ya = none o' ya = none of you

Almost there.

None of you live near the Kentucky and Indiana Border.

And then finish the HillBilly's thought process, (LOL), .....near me to get together and refer each other.

I stayed in a real flop house motel in Shively many years in a row, when I used to go down for The Derby, so I learned the lingo down there pretty Durned Good.

If you have never been to the DERBY, go to the infield and have a great time. To heck with the horse races, it's just one big giant party.

And, on your way walking to the track, almost every home owner, lot's of Black Folk, are cooking up something good on the grill for sale to eat. Thats some good down home cooking, Mmmm!!!
