Welcome to The Contractors Club

The Contractors Club is an online association of contractors that was started on 8/16/2007. This site focuses on running and managing a construction business. The Club was founded on the idea of contractors helping contractors grow their business while improving the quality of the industry as a whole.

Due to only industry related members allowed to achive membership the club has grown rapidly and offers lots of information and advice based from real life experiences. There are 2 levels of membership. Associate Members have introduced themselves to the association and share the same goal as the other members. Preferred Members have proven their level of expertise by contributing to the site and have full access to all the club offers.

Some of the material was stuff I already knew and some were things that all of the sudden clicked when I was there - sometimes seeing things makes a huge difference for me. I thought it was worth it; but it will be slow at some times b/c many have no ideas on the basic skills that he is mentioning so there is hand holding.

Otherwise; I agree with Greg, business related classes are better - but most were Power Point read along that make you want to slit your wrists; but I'd probably do it again depending on the offerings.

Thanks Dave, I was interested in Gary's classes. I am not sure I am interested in the business ones, as I figured they would be as you mentioned.

If I want to take a business class, I'll buy GregDi some beers, and after the 4th one I will tell him I give out free estimates and free proposals! Then watch him go!

Some of interest are skecthup, framing , and tile who knows...

Just add an ounce of kerosene to that 'do' and you will be assured to light up the town... :D

If Michael is doing his tile demos on the floor - definitely find time to stop in - very informative and for me watching is always better than reading.

Yeah...he's even a bigger pompous jerk in person. I have never met a person like him before in my life. I'm amazing that anyone can put up with his attitude long enough to sit through his class.

He is the antithesis of Gary Katz.

Yeah I met him too, he comes off a little different in his posts than in person. I might not like their personalities; but both have helped educate me in the past despite any personality glitches...

I have been to a bunch of his presentations, he has lots of information but terrible delivery of it. It is his way or no way, there is no need for any classes just follow the instructions on the bag. There is only 1 way to do things and it's my way. And he at times seems to be out of touch with the real world and what people will pay, not everyone can afford a $30k shower.

With Gary Katz, Jed Dixon and 1 or 2 others they are teaching or giving suggestions about what works best for them. They don't make you feel that they are so much better than you. They offer suggestions and receive comments and suggestions very well. They understand there is always more than 1 way to do things. I think it was 3 or 4 years ago when Gary had his 1st full day seminar at JLC, they packed 2 of the biggest rooms with standing room only, I think there were 2000 people there. They have gained the respect of many many people, where some others have never deserved it or lost it.

There are reasons why some of the forums get out of control over there and other places. It is the respect from and for the moderators. The kids here ( and GrandPops ) do a great job and I am very appreciative of there efforts.

Well i'm going to try to go. I can't find a reason not to.

A few things i won't be doing...

Bringing my wife.
Talking about Lead.

What Airport should I fly into. I'll probably rent a car so I don't bother any of you locals? Should I just get a shuttle there and back? Is a car not needed?
