New Years Business Resolution - Sonny Style

Postby Scott_W » Sun Dec 21, 2008

Hopefully this doesn't upset anyone, But with the New Year coming up I thought maybe we could start ANNUAL tradition....New Years business resolutions - Sonny Style!

Now we have all read or experience the passions Sonny both wrote and conveyed to many. For alot of us, things get pushed to the side business wise when we are busy. I figured this would be a way that Sonny could still give us a kick in the butt each year.

I guess I'll Start. In the new year I plan on FINALLY getting my shirts done, website completed and work on better customer service (returning calls in a timely manner etc).

Scott,

Great thread.

I'm thinking of staying home for a couple months here soon and getting my act together. I've started putting together a product book and working to make more detailed spreadsheets.

I need to work on my proposal more and turn it more into a packet of info instead of just a price.

I think I found my new accountant. I had one and didn't like him, went 2007 without one, now I have to get one. I met him for a quick lunch last Monday and he's coming to my house tommorrow afternoon to get down to the nitty gritty.

Great Idea Scott!

New years business resolutions-

Know my numbers in and out
Quit holding out hope that some of the guys are going to "turn their acts around"
Be a hell of alot more selective on the jobs we take on
Decrease my field time by 15% to grow the company
Clean house and install a Standard operating procedure
Get at least 1 more profitable truck on the road for our service division
Increase revenue 20% without increasing overhead
Read Stone's "markup and profit" until I can recite it verbatum
Grow the Balls to finish Sonny's Project no matter how bad it hurts.

Oh yeah, find a way to get back at my ex-web designer

Good stuff guys! I am glad it has been well received. I was a little worried about posting it. I figured this way if we make a resolution, we have someone to answer too! And you know he is probably there every step of the way whether you realize it or not. That is just the type of guy he was!

I would have also posted this over on JLC, but was afraid to because of some of the "different" personalities over there possibly ruining it.

Just wanted to bump this thread. I am still working on my resolutions! Seriously though I have gotten alot better with the customer service, but it is hard being one person.

Website is number one on my list, gotta just put the money aside for it, but the proble is I keep spending it on other things! Hopefully I will tackle it soon. I need something professional.

Almost another year coming up. So start thinking of those resolutions!
