Would you consider working with myself and others including NARI to get the EPA in a discussion on the new lead rule?
We need to address the process and the implications.
No money, no glory, just addressing what can be a difficult compliance for painters and contractors.
If CC and the other forums were to work as group the EPA would have to listen.

Paul we'll help out in anyway we can. Let us know what direction your stance is and what we can possible do.
I assume you are against all the new rules? Correct?

Re: Josh, would you help us talk to the EPA on the lead rule?
Just to be clear, I am for safe lead removal. We owe our customers a clean home and free from lead dust resulting from our work.
Most of us will fall under the rule, and especially painters and remodelers, and deck builders if they disturb siding or areas done with lead paint.
Chris Wright is doing a good job getting the information out from already published sources, I am just an instigator, or pain in the butt, I'm good with either description.
The rules apply to all of us and the fines are huge $37,500 per employee, per occurance per day.
Not against lead removal, against confusing education and practices to remove the lead.
I will come back with some links and the CC members can decide on reading them, this is a high quality forum and if the lead law is news to you think of what a surprise you'll have if your unlucky enough to have some slimeball homeowner/ lawyer come at you with a million dollar lead suit because some child on one of your jobs tested high. Doctors test for lead on regular visits.
The help I need is after April 22, 2010 we are all mandated bty the EPA to follow this rule, suprisingly many smart and ethical contractors haven't heard about this. I think we better support each other after April 2010 or we may be in for a shock.
I'll come back after Christmas with some links.
Thanks
And Merry Christmas to all on Contractor Club

I agree that we are a stronger force when unified. Thanks for taking the reins on this and for putting the invitation out for all to work together.
Merry Christmas, Paul.

If I had a chance to be heard, i would want to create some form of penalty to the homeowners that hire unregistered firms.
And more importantly, get the insurers of said properties to drop/deny coverage for willful ignorance of this law.

Re: Would you help us talk to the EPA on the lead rule?
To be honest this has little to no impact here. There's no enforcement of anything other than building permits. There's a framing and plumbing inspection on new construction and that's it. 15 more miles out from the main city there's no inspections at all.
I still plan to take the class next month but until then I have done little to no research on this. I bet you 49 out of 50 contractors here will have no clue at all.

I will research the classes and post dates, openings, locations, and costs.
Then we can see who can make what.
